The CMC Mediation Process
Registration Arrive at least 20 minutes before the session to register and complete the administrative process. Our officer will receive you, help verify your identity and make sure everything is in order before the start of the mediation session. |
Opening Statement Our mediator will begin with an opening statement to set the tone for a constructive dialogue. Some ground rules will be laid out to ensure everyone feels heard and respected throughout the process. |
Sharing Your Perspective In a joint session at the CMC, you will have the chance to share your perspective and explain your side of the story without interruptions. |
Understanding Each Other After you have had your say, it is time to listen. The other party will share their version of the dispute, and our mediator will help summarise the key issues raised. |
Confidential Discussions If there are sensitive matters that require private discussion, our mediator will speak to each party separately. Your confidentiality is important to us –nothing will be shared without your permission. Our mediator may alternate between joint and private sessions to explore different solutions with both parties until a mutual agreement is reached. |
Reaching A Mutual Agreement Our mediator may alternate between joint and private sessions to explore different avenues until a mutual agreement is reached. |
Finalising The Agreement Once an agreement is reached, our mediator will document the terms. You will have the opportunity to review the document before signing it. A copy of the agreement will be provided to you. |
Conclusion If an agreement cannot be reached, we will close the session respectfully. You may choose to explore other options to address the dispute, which may include seeking legal advice or proceeding to file an application with the Courts. |
